Assistant Finance Business Partner, Higher Education, £38k-45k, London (Hybrid)
Looking to step beyond month-end reporting and have a real impact? A leading London university is searching for an Assistant Finance Business Partner to support senior stakeholders, provide insightful financial analysis, and help drive strategic decision-making.

You'll be the go-to finance expert for your department, ensuring budgets are well-managed, forecasts are accurate, and financial processes run smoothly. If you're after a role that blends financial expertise with real business engagement, this is a great opportunity.

This position is perfect for someone with a commercial mindset, keen to deliver high-quality financial insights while working closely with senior stakeholders. You’ll support the Senior Finance Business Partner in helping budget holders understand their financial position, produce accurate forecasts, and provide valuable management information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting Budget Holders – Work closely with teams across the organisation to develop budgets, monitor financial performance, and analyse variances.
  • Management Reporting – Assist with the month-end process, prepare management accounts, and deliver financial insights that support decision-making.
  • Ensuring Compliance – Make sure all financial activity aligns with tax, payroll, HR, and regulatory requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Build strong relationships to improve financial understanding and provide clear, meaningful advice.
  • Process Improvement – Identify and implement ways to enhance financial processes and best practices.
What We’re Looking For
  • Degree-qualified in a relevant subject or actively studying towards ACA/ACCA/CIMA.
  • Experience/exposure in financial planning, budgeting, and management reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of finance systems and internal controls.
  • Excellent communication skills – able to translate financial data for non-finance stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
