Finance Director (Part time 3/4 days per week), Central London, FTE circa £70-100k An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Director to join a growing SME in the recruitment space on a part-time basis (3–4 days per week). This role offers the chance to work closely with senior leadership—including the Founders—and an external accounting provider, ensuring the business remains agile and focused on strategic growth.
The role is designed for a finance professional who excels at high-level strategic oversight and business partnering. With routine transactional tasks such as invoicing, bookkeeping, credit control, and interim payroll handled externally (apart from the weekly payroll), the emphasis is on driving financial performance and guiding operational decisions in support of the company’s ambitious growth plans.
Key Responsibilities: - Manage the relationship with the external finance provider
- Produce and present monthly management accounts, board packs, budgets, and forecasts
- Provide commercial insight and strategic support to senior leaders and team heads
- Oversee internal payroll and commission calculations
- Maintain and develop banking relationships
- Act as a key HR reference point for internal operations
- Lead compliance and company secretarial duties—including HMRC, EMI schemes, shareholder agreements, and ad hoc governance matters
- Support projects across HR, systems integration, business planning, and contract reviews
Ideal Candidate: - Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
- Strong SME experience, with a broad operational remit beyond pure finance (ideally experience in a recruitment agency)
- Familiar with corporate matters such as shareholder agreements, EMI schemes, and due diligence
- Comfortable working at both strategic and hands-on levels
- Confident partnering with Founders and senior leaders
- Collaborative, adaptable, and strong interpersonally.
This role presents a remarkable chance for a dynamic finance professional to champion robust financial stewardship while influencing key decisions at the highest level, playing a pivotal role in steering the business toward its next phase of growth.
