Utilities Manager - Professional Services - St Albans - Paying £35,000 - £40,000 + Study Support - Hybrid Role 

We are seeking a proactive and tenacious Utilities Manager to lead the resolution of utility invoice discrepancies and ensure the accuracy of utility-related data across systems.
 
This role involves close collaboration with utility suppliers, network operators, and internal teams to identify, track, and resolve billing issues. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining invoice integrity and supporting data quality across relevant platforms.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies identified during utility invoice validation.
  • Communicate directly with suppliers and network operators to address and resolve billing issues.
  • Ensure consistent and thorough follow-up from issue identification to resolution.
  • Maintain productive relationships with supplier account managers to ensure continuity and service quality.
  • Manage escalations effectively, avoiding reliance on generic customer service channels.
  • Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders, including finance and data teams.
  • Collaborate with other utilities personnel to ensure alignment and data consistency.
  • Ensure all issues are fully resolved before approving invoices.
  • Maintain accurate, clean, and reliable data across systems to support validation and reporting processes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to identify and investigate anomalies.  
  • Strong completer-finisher mindset – committed to seeing tasks through to completion.  
  • Self-motivated and persistent in resolving issues independently.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including working with large datasets and using formulas and analysis tools.  
  • Quick learner, able to adapt to new systems and processes efficiently.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Strong organisational abilities with flexibility to manage shifting priorities.
Key Requirements:
  • Billing - Must have previous Billing experience 
  • Strong knowledge in Accounts Receivable & Credit Control 
  • Strong Advanced Excel knowledge 
  • Knowledge on Systemslink software beneficial but not a necessity 
  • Previous experience in Retail or Professional Services sector a must 
  • Experience working with utility billing, energy suppliers, or energy data systems.
  • Familiarity with invoice or energy management platforms.
  • Understanding of finance processes and invoice approval workflows.
  • Self-starter – Demonstrates initiative and independence.
  • Tenacious – Committed to resolving issues thoroughly.
  • Detail-oriented – Attuned to spotting inconsistencies and errors.
  • Flexible – Comfortable adapting to evolving tasks and priorities.
  • Collaborative – Works effectively with internal teams and external partners.
  • Completer – Ensures all work is followed through to completion.
