Job description

Treasurer, Voluntary Board Role - Arts & Charity, London
Trace are proud to be partnering exclusively with Fevered Sleep, a bold and imaginative arts organisation based in Bethnal Green, to appoint a new Treasurer to their Board.

We’re looking for a qualified accountant who understands Charity SORP and is passionate about using their expertise to make a difference. This is an opportunity to give back to a thriving creative community and help shape the future of a pioneering arts charity. This is an excellent entry into Board level roles for accountants currently in mid-management positions that are keen to develop their understanding in a small, but agile, organisation.

We are looking for someone with knowledge, skills and experience in the following areas:
  • A qualified accountant, or experience of working within the voluntary and charitable sector
  • Good understanding of Charity SORP
  • Auditing and risk management skills and experience
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and analytical skills

Fevered Sleep requires a Treasurer to:
  • Support the Fevered Sleep executive team and our independent accountants to prepare quarterly management and annual statutory accounts.
  • Oversee the financial affairs of the organisation and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.
  • Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures are in place.
  • Monitor and report on the financial health of the organisation.
  • Oversee the production of necessary financial reports/returns, accounts and audits.
  • Attend quarterly pre-Board meetings with the executive team and Chair of Trustees, as part of the Finance sub-group.

What is involved:
  • Attendance at four meetings, in February, May, August and November each year. (2 hours each)
  • Trustees are required to read Board papers in advance of each meeting, including artistic, financial and strategic reports. The format of Board papers can be adapted to meet access needs.
  • Additional time if their skill set is relevant to particular areas of work.

If you have any questions, please contact Ellie Prideaux at Trace Recruitment on ellie.prideaux@tracerecruit.com or 02070428429. Full role pack will be available in the next two weeks.
