Fevered Sleep, a bold and imaginative arts organisation based in
Bethnal Green, to appoint a new
Treasurer to their Board.
We’re looking for a
qualified accountant who understands
Charity SORP and is passionate about using their expertise to make a difference. This is an opportunity to give back to a
thriving creative community and help shape the future of a pioneering arts charity. This is an excellent entry into Board level roles for accountants currently in mid-management positions that are keen to develop their understanding in a small, but agile, organisation.
We are looking for someone with knowledge, skills and experience in the following areas:
- A qualified accountant, or experience of working within the voluntary and charitable sector
- Good understanding of Charity SORP
- Auditing and risk management skills and experience
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
Fevered Sleep requires a Treasurer to:
- Support the Fevered Sleep executive team and our independent accountants to prepare quarterly management and annual statutory accounts.
- Oversee the financial affairs of the organisation and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.
- Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures are in place.
- Monitor and report on the financial health of the organisation.
- Oversee the production of necessary financial reports/returns, accounts and audits.
- Attend quarterly pre-Board meetings with the executive team and Chair of Trustees, as part of the Finance sub-group.
What is involved:
- Attendance at four meetings, in February, May, August and November each year. (2 hours each)
- Trustees are required to read Board papers in advance of each meeting, including artistic, financial and strategic reports. The format of Board papers can be adapted to meet access needs.
- Additional time if their skill set is relevant to particular areas of work.
