Job description

Financial Controller
Performing Arts
Central London
Up to £70,000

An established and highly regarded organisation in the performing arts is seeking a qualified Financial Controller following a period of team restructuring. This is a senior, hands-on role offering real influence across strategy, leadership, and decision-making.

Working closely with the COO and Senior Leadership Team, you’ll take ownership of financial reporting, controls, and audit, while helping shape long-term strategic plans. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance leader who enjoys partnering with non-finance stakeholders and driving improvement.

The role will involve:
  • Owning monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, providing insight and challenge
  • Leading and developing the finance function (AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger)
  • Supporting strategic planning with clear financial analysis and recommendations
  • Identifying financial risks and opportunities to improve operational performance
  • Playing a key role in major decisions around funding, commercial initiatives, and capital projects
  • Leading month-end, year-end, and audit processes
  • Preparing annual budgets and rolling forecasts
  • Ensuring full compliance with UK accounting, tax, and reporting requirements
  • Improving financial processes, controls, and systems across the organisation

About you:
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
  • Proven experience leading or owning a finance function
  • Confident people manager with a track record of developing teams
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards and tax
  • Able to translate complex financial data for non-finance audiences
  • Collaborative, proactive, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in education, charity, or the arts would be an advantage

If you’re looking for a visible, influential finance role where your work genuinely supports an organisation’s mission, this could be a fantastic next step.
